Hello and welcome to our little corner of the world!
Over the years, Webtoon has really rocketed and become a powerhouse of good webcomic stories. So my twin and I thought we would compile a list of our favorite CONTEMPORARY completed series! We will also be creating a list of fantasy completed and ongoing series…so stay tuned for those!
We love Webtoon and how it truly is a platform for the lovers of comics! My twin and have even created a few small, and unfinished *sigh*, webcomic series to add to the ever-growing collection of stories on there.
Now, if you’ve ever read anything from Webtoon, then you know that it’s not very common to find completed series since most webcomics can last for a few years, if not much longer. So this list is not very long, but they are all worth the read!
Now let’s jump into our list!
1.) Marry My Husband

Author: Sungsojak
Release Date: August 28, 2022
Episodes: 58 (with 11 spin-off episodes)
Genre: Drama, Romance
Summary:
When Jiwon, a 37-year-old cancer patient, walks in on her husband and best friend, she realizes her whole life has been a lie. What’s worse, she dies a tragic death at the hands of her husband. Would things have been different if she had made different choices? Fortunately for Jiwon, she is given the chance to rewrite her fate when she is reincarnated as her younger self. This time, she vows to live a happy life. But first comes revenge. Her plan? To marry off her now former best friend to her lying, cheating husband.
Our Thoughts:
This is one of our all time favorite webcomic series! The plotline is amazing and we absolutely adore both Ji-hwon and Jihyuk! Their blossoming friendship to romance is so well crafted, especially as some of the worst things imaginable are happening in the background. We have read this series multiple times and love it more with each read! We highly recommend this series!

2.) Who's Mr. President?

Author: S.M.S
Release Date: April 25, 2022
Episodes: 68
Genre: Comedy, Romance, Drama
Summary:
Chiara is a scholarship student starting her first year at Krisopras High School, an elite private school for the rich and famous. A commoner compared to her peers, Chiara’s first day is full of surprises. But the real shock comes when she ends up being chosen as the only "public" member of a private group dedicated to serving justice for the student body. Will she be able to cope with the life of a student at Krisopras High School along with her newfound position, and who is this "president" shrouded in mystery?
Our Thoughts:
When this first came out we were so excited to read it! The setting and a few of the characters give off Ouran High School Host Club vibes and we were all for it! The plot is really intriguing and it was honestly more of a funny drama than just outright drama...and for that, we loved it even more because comedy stories are our favorite!
One downside is that when this series was starting to really pick up, it had a somewhat rushed ending that left us wanting so much more. We're not sure if Webtoon didn't give the author more time or what but the story had so much potential to be a huge hit...but it wasn't allowed nearly enough growth for that. Which was super disappointing, to say the least. Chiara and Ezra deserved so much more, and as we follow the author's Instagram (@artfoliosms), you can tell that they feel the same way.
Overall this is such a good series that needs to be shared with as many people as possible (so that the author might create more for them) so definitely check this story out!

3.) Gourmet Hound

Author: Robyn (Leehama)
Release Date: December 2, 2017
Episodes: 170
Genre: Drama, Romance, Comedy
Summary:
Lucy, a woman with an uncanny sense of taste and smell, discovers that her favorite restaurant has changed kitchen staff--and she does not know the identity of the chef whose cooking she's loved for years. When a lucky accident leads her to two former chefs at Dimanche, she decides that she will do her utmost to track down each of their old colleagues in order to rediscover that "perfect taste".
Our Thoughts:
We read this story when it was still on Canvas, so to say we are old fans of this series is an understatement. It was so awesome to watch such a talented author get promoted to the "Featured" section of Webtoon, especially since 2017 was still an early time for Webtoon in general.
The story itself is good and we really enjoyed the various movements the story takes, especially through the 170 episodes (it's a lot but also worth it!). Lucy and Graham are adorable and their cute moments were really something else.
Lucy was sometimes a little annoying about finding chefs and making them cook for her (it led to a couple moments of secondhand embarrassment) but overall the story and characters were wonderful! If you enjoy cooking mixed in with romance and drama then definitely check this story out!

4.) Just For Kicks
Author: Josie Fox
Release Date: August 29, 2017
Episodes: 162
Genre: Slice of Life, Comedy
Summary:
A lighthearted comic about an amateur university Taekwondo club! Join the team as they train, sweat, eat, & laugh their way through daily life.
Our Thoughts:
This is much more on the lighthearted side as each episode is fairly short but fun! We read this when it first came onto the Featured side of Webtoon in 2017 and really loved the simplicity! At that time we were in Highschool so it was always fun getting to read the chapters that would come out almost daily since they were so short. The characters and overall vibe of this webcomic are great so if you want something simple then check this series out!

5.) Cat Teacher
Author: Paulinaapc
Release Date: June 27, 2019
Episodes: 137
Genre: Comedy, Slice of Life
Summary:
A lighthearted comic about an amateur university Taekwondo club! Join the team as they train, sweat, eat, & laugh their way through daily life.
Our Thoughts:
Cat Teacher was originally a Spanish comic that was translated into English and we're so happy it was because we love it! It's a super simple slice-of-life story but it's adorable and nice to read during breaks at work or when you have free time.
6.) A Good Day To Be A Dog
Author: Lee Hye
Release Date: May 15, 2018
Episodes: 88 (with 5 extras)
Genre: Romance, Drama
Summary:
Hana (Hae Na) has made every effort to avoid an inevitable family curse... of turning into a dog after her first kiss. Worst of all, the only way for her to break the curse is to get a second kiss. How will that work when Hana’s first kiss is with a guy who is deathly afraid of dogs?!
Our Thoughts:
Now this post is dedicated to contemporary stories, but this does have a slight magical essence to it. The story overall is really good, we read this back when it first got published on Webtoon and enjoyed the beginning of the story but noticed that it got really heavy... really fast. The main characters are both teachers but there is bullying that occurs and brings a heavy atmosphere to a somewhat "lighthearted" storyline.
There is a bit of drama that occurs in this story but it's honestly surrounding forces, not the characters themselves. Still, an overall good read. So if you don't mind drama and want to see an adorable storyline then we would recommend this story to you!

7.) Scorching Romance

Author: Hongchi
Release Date: July 1, 2019
Episodes: 90
Genre: Romance, Drama
Summary:
Her blood runs hot, and her temper is even hotter – even when it’s the cold of winter. To lift the flaming curse she’s carried since she was a little girl, high schooler Ember must find her cold equivalent… But finding a match whose blood runs as cold as her’s does hot isn’t going to be easy, especially when the only way to turn the powerful curse away is to KISS that person right on their frigid lips. High school dramas usually run hot and cold, but there’s never been a story as fun and fiery as Scorching Romance!
Our Thoughts:
The premise of this one immediately caught our interest when it came out, and for good reason. It's a funny concept. This takes the Hot and Cold trope to a whole new level and it was fun watching their romance blossom, along with their character development.
The main character, Ember has a fun personality and honestly, one that is relatable (our blood runs hot most days too so we get her).
Overall this is a fun series with good characters and a sweet romance!

8.) Yumi Cells
Author: Donggeon LeeRelease Date: May 27, 2015
Episodes: 511
Genre: Slice of Life, Comedy
Summary:
A story of Yumi and her brain cells...
Our Thoughts:
This is a simple slice-of-life story that is both entertaining and a tad thought-provoking but in a good way. It's a lot like the Inside Out movie but we like Yumi Cells a lot more because the Hungry emotion in Yumi Cells is extremely close to ours. This is a really fun series and even though there are over 500 episodes it's really short so we personally think it's worth it!
Read, Yumi's Cells, here!
9.) Moonlight Beauty Parlor
Author: Nawa.
Release Date: July 16, 2021Episodes: 53
Genre: Romance, Drama
Summary:
Ina Yun is left without a job or home after she gets fired and her house burns down. Her luck takes a turn when Hyeondu Seo, owner of the Moonlight Beauty Parlor, offers her a place to stay as well as a job — on one condition! Hyeondu suffers from insomnia, and it seems Ina’s presence is the only thing that allows him to sleep through the night. If she agrees to help him sleep at night, she can stay. As Ina spends more time with Hyeondu, her heart begins to skip a beat when she sees how thoughtful he is with each of his clients. Is Hyeondu only keeping Ina around to help him sleep, or do his feelings run deeper?
Our Thoughts:
This story is really cute and we enjoyed the characters and plot. It's under drama but there's not as much drama as there is romance. But it has been a while since we read it (so we'll have to do a re-read session of this one). They form a friendship before romance so it was nice watching their relationship bloom from friendship to lovers. An overall good story!

10.) Extraordinary Attorney Woo
Release Date: December 15, 2022Episodes: 65
Genre: Drama, Romance
Summary:
Woo Young-woo is a rookie attorney on the autism spectrum at one of Korea’s most prestigious law firms, Hanbada. Using her encyclopedic memory and creative thought process, she can find unconventional solutions to the toughest cases — but can she succeed while facing discrimination and stigma?
Our Thoughts:
This is a rare case of when the K-drama comes out first and then a Webtoon series is created off of it. We enjoyed the webcomic, but we preferred the K-drama. There is more depth to the characters and because the K-drama came first, the Webtoon feels lacking.
But in general, the story is still great and it was nice to read about a story we thoroughly enjoyed when watching the show adaptation. So if you haven't watched the show, or just want to relive it all again in webcomic format then we recommend reading the Webtoon!
Read, Extraordinary Attorney Woo, here!
We hope you enjoyed our list and that you possibly found a new Webtoon series to get into! If you have your own recommendations for a completed contemporary series then please let us know in the comments so we can find new hidden gems!
Until Next Time...
